If you have received a video rejection email from Google when attempting to claim, validate or verify your Google Business Profile, fear not, you are not alone.
Google is cracking down more on video verification now than it has in the past, making it really challenging to “prove” you have ownership of the space or spaces you occupy. As of a couple years ago, the verification process is controlled by bots, so this part of the process more tedious than ever and can be quite frustrating.
Some tips that you can use to attempt verification and make the process run more smoothly are as follows:
Shoot a video on your property making sure your video includes any “permanent” pieces of signage available. Some examples are:
- The Directory Board: If the shared workspace has a central directory (digital or physical) in the lobby, ask management to temporarily or permanently add “[INSERT YOUR BUSINESS]” to it. If it’s a digital screen, ensure it’s toggled to show [INSERT BUSINESS NAME] name when the camera passes it.
- The Office Door/Window: Print a high-quality, professional vinyl decal or a high-end acrylic sign with the company name and logo. Mount it securely to the door, window frame, or wall immediately outside their specific leased office or dedicated desk area. **We understand this is likely not in the cards, but want to make you aware of all possible workarounds.
- The Desk/Interior Sign: If it’s an open collaborative space without a private door, set up a professional, heavy-duty acrylic desk sign or plaque.
The digital screen option is usually the most feasible for clients in shared workspaces, but can the directory board or signage is most likely to be accepted.
If these suggestions do not word, you can submit a request for review which requires documentation proving it’s a credible office space linked to your business.
